For the better part of my life I did just as Jacob did in Genesis 32 (NASB), I wrestled with God. First trying to push Him away and even now, trying to control the journey He's put before me.

Jokingly I refer to my Jesus awakening by saying that God had to take a 2 x 4 to the back of my head to get my attention. Speaking from experience I wouldn't suggest this path to obedience. In fact, my hope is that by traveling His Word together, you can avoid a similar event by being transformed by His love and wisdom for the rest of your life.

Born at the end of the baby-boomer era, I was blessed with parents and siblings that saw hope in my willful nature. Until my re-birth in Christ in 1999, I was without knowledge of who the author of my salvation was. What a relief to find Jesus waiting for me with open arms.

He came to me in a vision that I can still see with vivid detail, it was that 2x4 I was talking about. The intensity of His presence made it very clear that I needed to study His Word. So during my daily study, classes, group meetings and quiet reflection, I'm finding, His purpose and direction for my life. An adventure is the only way to describe this amazing journey.
